Arrival

We always need support , so just stop by. Lützerath is a bit of the grid, but there are definitely ways to get here:

Important note #1: Currently the bed exchange is fully booked, so please bring your own tents!

Important note #2: Please note that we usually can’t organize your journey from the surrounding train stations, because our shuttle service is for people who really need it. We ask all others come from Hochneukirch or Erkelenz by bike or multibus directly, or by public bus to Holzweiler and from there by foot to Lützerath. More information about all means of transport can be found below.

Access by public transport:

There are 3 train stations that are not too far away:

  • Hochneukirch Bf (VRR, about 10km) [for coming from Cologne]
  • Erkelenz (VRS, approx. 10km) [for coming from Düsseldorf]
  • Herrath (VRR, approx. 8km)

It is possible to get a little closer by bus:

  • From Mönchengladbach Mainstation and Möchengladbach Rheydt: Wanlo Markt (line 006, ca 5km to Lützi).
  • From Erkelenz to Holzweiler Kirche (line EK1 & EK3, approx. 2.8km to Lützi)
  • Keyenberg (line EK1 & EK3, approx. 3km to Lützi)

Pro-tip: Many train tickets are also valid for the bus. Just try to show your train ticket on the bus (or multibus), if you are asked at all.

Multibus:

On weekends and evenings, instead of regular buses, there is a multibus of the transport association, which runs only on request. The bus takes you to Lützerath and picks you up there as well. Large groups, a lot of luggage, wheelchairs and bicycles are usually no problem, but it is best to let them know a few days in advance.

Attention! Sometimes the capacities are exhausted and you get a cancellation, especially with spontaneous requests.

    Multibus times:
  • Mon-Fri: 20:00-01:00 (before holidays until 02:00)
  • Sat: 06:30-01:00
  • Sun: 09:00-01:00 (before holidays until 02:00)
  • Multibus phone number: 02431 88-6688

Carpooling:

There is a Lützi rideshare exchange on Telegram where you can network. How do I get there? – Just type “Mitfahrbösre Lützerath” into the Telegram search or click on the car.

Shuttle:

+++ ATTENTION: Unfortunately, we can no longer offer a shuttle service for Hochneukirch station. Please come by train to Erkelenz if you need to be picked up. +++

The shuttle capacities are very limited. So please try the other possible ways to get here first. If you need a shuttle, just write in the Lützi Shuttlebörse (the little bus on the right) or call the MaWaPhone (+491520 1339091). Please announce your need for a shuttle as early as possible.

Please note: If you have problems affording the ride to get to Luetzerath please feel encouraged to contact the Awareness Team via their Email awareness[at]luetzerathlebt.info. If your are uncertain if you can feel comfortable here even though you’re not male, white and academic, they are also available under +491522/6502277.

Of course, it is also quite possible to come here by bike or by car. If you come by car, feel free to post your ride in the carpool exchange. Attention! It is possible that navigation systems still have roads in them that have long since disappeared into the hole. So always look at the road 😉

Please keep in mind that motorised traffic poses a substantial strain on the environment.
