How to find us

We are always happy to receive support, so feel free to come along. Lützerath is a bit out of the way, but there are ways to get here:

Important note: Please note that we usually can’t organise your journey from the surrounding train stations, because our shuttle service is aimed at people who really need it. We ask everyone else to come from Hochneukirch or Erkelenz by bike or Multibus directly, or by public bus to Holzweiler and from there by foot to Lützerath. More information on all means of transport can be found below.

Current directions (as of 5.1):

From 2.1 it is no longer possible to come to Lützerath by car. Until 9.1, however, pedestrians and cyclists should have access. The vigil Lützerath has a corresponding permit until 9.1 and is therefore a legal place to go. According to information from the contact cops, the access roads will not be controlled by them but by the security, which will probably change from 9.1. The security does not have the right to control your personal data and must let you to the vigil, so do not be intimidated and insist on your right! In case of problems contact the EA (+49 (0) 641 2010 99 547). We will try to update all information about the journey to Lützerath, if there are any changes or if it is not possible as we think. From 9.1 there will be a shuttle point in Unser Aller Camp, which will organize shuttles to Keyenberg. Until then you have to go to Holzweiler or Keyenberg by bus and walk or bike from there.

Access by public transport:

There are 3 train stations not too far away:
  • Hochneukirch Bf (VRR, approx. 10km) [for those coming from Cologne],
  • Erkelenz (VRS, approx. 10km) [for those coming from Düsseldorf].
  • Herrath (VRR, approx. 8km)

    • It is possible to get a little closer by bus:
    • From Mönchengladbach HBF and Möchengladbach Rheydt: Wanlo Markt (line 006, approx. 5km to Lützi).
    • From Erkelenz to Holzweiler Kirche (line EK1 & EK3, approx. 2.8km to Lützi)
    • Keyenberg (line EK1 & EK3, approx. 3km to Lützi)

Pro-tip: Many train tickets are also valid for the bus. Just try to show your train ticket on the bus (or multibus) if you are asked at all.

Multibus:

On weekends and evenings, instead of regular buses, there is a multibus run by the transport association, which only runs on request. The bus takes you to Lützerath and also picks you up there. Large groups, lots of luggage, wheelchairs and bicycles are usually no problem, but it’s best to let us know a few days in advance.

Attention! Sometimes capacities are exhausted and you get a cancellation, especially for spontaneous requests.

Shuttle:

+++ ATTENTION: Unfortunately, we can no longer offer a shuttle service for Hochneukirch station. Please come by train to Erkelenz if you need to be picked up. +++

Shuttle capacities are very limited. Please try the other possible ways to get here first. If you need a shuttle, just write in the Lützi shuttle exchange or call the MaWaPhone (+491520 1339091). Please register your need for a shuttle as early as possible.

Bicycle or car:

Of course, it is also possible to come here by bike or by car. If you are coming by car, feel free to write your journey in the Mitfahrbörse. Watch out! Navigation systems may still have roads in them that have long since disappeared into the hole. So always keep your eyes on the road 😉

If the tickes is too expensive just call 01522 6502277 and we will find a solution. Also if you worry not to be able to feel save here due to discrimination feel free to contact the awareness team.
